Woman Finds Her Father After Almost 28 Years — And Learns the Truth About Why He Left

It’s always a beautiful thing when someone is able to find one or both of their birth parents after being adopted. A lifelong mystery has been solved. Cami, a Northern California woman, finds her father who she thought didn’t want her. And discovers the truth about why he left.

Cami is a stay-at-home mom who owns and operates a small business, Mae Day Crochet. On her Instagram account, she posts about her creations and amazing talent, inspiration and tidbits about her personal life. It is where she shared the story of meeting her biological father for the first time, and it will leave you in tears.

She Thought Her Biological Father Didn’t Want Anything To Do With Her

Cami starts off sharing that she was adopted and raised in a loving family with a strong bond. As she got older, she would ask about her birth father. Her parents shared the only information they had. “That his name wasn’t on anything. He didn’t show up, along with other painful details,” she wrote in her Instagram video.

Hearing that had to be so difficult. Thinking that her biological father didn’t want anything to do with her.

When Cami Became a Mom, Something in Her Shifted

When Cami became a mom herself, she says that something in her shifted. As she held her own baby, she looked at her husband with tears in her eyes and asked him, “Do you think he ever even thought about me?”

We always want to think the best of people, but you never really know. And for Cami, she hadn’t been told anything that would lead her to believe the answer to her question would be a good one. However, she still wanted to find her father, all the while preparing herself for rejection.

After Two Years Of Searching She Started to Lose Hope

After two years of searching, she started to lose hope. That was when she met Tommy, who she believes God brought to her in the form of a miracle. Tommy was good at this type of searching, and he was able to find her father. He sent Cami a photo when he did and when she saw it, she knew it was her father.

She sent him a Facebook message request, and hoped it would be read. And then it was. He wrote her back and the father and daughter got to hear one another’s voices the next day.

Cami Found Out the Truth

While she was looking for her father, she also reconnected with her birth mother and learned that what she was told before wasn’t the truth. She was told what really happened, and her birth father later confirmed it as well.

Cami found out that her birth mother and father were at the same place while in the military, however, during the pregnancy lived across the country from each other. Her father told Cami that he drove over 50 hours to get to her when she was born.

He Wanted to Be There

“He WAS there and even held me, but her family had already set things in motion.” she wrote. He said he would have taken her in but things were already happening.

“He only held me once and had to leave not knowing any detail of where I was going and no way of ever finding me again,” Cami shared.

The Young Woman Finds Her Father

Her whole life she thought he didn’t show up and didn’t want her but that wasn’t true at all.

Just six days after she sent the Facebook message, she got a plane to meet her biological father for the first time since he held her as a baby.

In the rest of Cami’s video, we see her hugging her father, and reuniting with him. What an amazing feeling for both of them.

The Pain She Had Over His Loss Was Gone

“All the pain I had for years over this part of my story was gone instantly,” she writes. “He was there. He did want me, and he still wanted me even after all these years later.”

What a blessing for Cami, her father, and her whole family. May they enjoy these days of making new memories together and getting to know one another as family.
