Iran increases anti-Israeli rhetoric. According to Reuters, many thousands of Iranians shouted "Death to America, death to Israel" during state-organized protests on Friday and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told them there was no place for the Jewish state in a future Middle East. Iran, penalized by tough Western sanctions, faces the threat of an Israeli or U.S. military strike on its disputed nuclear facilities. Ahmadinejad called for Muslim unity to foil Western support for Israel, which he described as a "cancerous tumor" for its occupation of Palestinian land.
City council in Great Britain apologizes for preventing Christians from distributing tracts. According to Christian Today, the Gloucester City Council has apologised after it stopped a group of Christians from 10 local churches from handing out Christian literature in the city centre. The group was distributing the tracts as part of Bible Day Gloucester. The apology was issued following a threat of legal action from the Christian Legal Centre.
More Americans are identifying as atheists. According to the Christian Broadcasting Network, the number of atheists in America is on the rise while those with more religious beliefs is declining. A new Gallup International poll. found that 5 percent of Americans say they don't believe in God, up from 1 percent when the study was last conducted in 2005...
