'Practice What You Preach' Old Friends Quartet

Enjoy a dose of nostalgia as you listen to The Old Friends Quartet perform ‘Practice What You Preach.’ This classic bluegrass hymn is sure to have you toe-tapping along in no time.

“Practice, practice what you preach
Practice, practice what you preach
(I'm here to tell you that) It's what you do not what you say
That's gonna count on judgment day”

The Old Friends Quartet is a former Southern gospel bluegrass ensemble that toured together from 2000 through 2003. Through those years, members included notable names such as Ernie Haase,
Jake Hess, Wesley Pritchard, and George Younce. During their short time together, the quartet became a fixture on the Gaither stage.

Today, we’re looking back at one of their iconic performances. Just listen as they belt out the words to ‘Practice What You Preach.’

“And then we've got a sister here who gossips quite a lot
She knows who's going where with who and if they ain't why not
Well, sister if you aim to sit beside that golden throne
Stop talking about your neighbor's sin (And) start the thinking about your own.”

This upbeat song may seem lively and jolly, but it holds a serious reminder to all Christians. We are to be the light of the Lord and let His message of love and peace shine. Do not let the temptations of the world cloud our judgments and those around us.

I Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
