'Dirt Road Prayer' Southern Raised Bluegrass Band
The talented siblings of Southern Raised perform an acoustic bluegrass rendition of ‘Dirt Road Prayer.’
The song was originally recorded by country artist Lauren Alaina for her 2011 album, Wildflower. The touching lyrics remind us that God is always there to listen to our prayers.
“I’ve been runnin’ so fast I’ve forgotten who I am
And so I go where the green grass grows
The weeds are high and the sun hangs low
Look to the sky and I say, hello
Like it’s the very first time”
Southern Raised is comprised of siblings Lindsay, Sarah, Emily and Matt. The group was raised in the Ozark Mountains and they have blended their traditional music upbringing with multiple genres and their deep-rooted faith.
Today, they’re combining country music and cries to our Lord with the hit song ‘Dirt Road Prayer.’ And to give this song an even deeper feeling, the siblings are performing an acoustic rendition.
“It doesn’t matter how long it’s been
I can talk to God like he’s my best friend
Take my heart and lay it down again right there
In a dirt road prayer”
As you listen to these words, be reminded that God is always there for us. Even when we may feel distant or not enough, it is so important to remember that the Lord is on our side and He is always waiting to guide us back home. Cry out to Him and let Him welcome you with open and loving arms.

Keep pointing to him with your love in the way the Lord equips you. And know that is enough. You are enough. Simply because… you are his. I hope you will rest your heart and soul with me today in your priceless value and unconditional worth. Rest in the truth that you are enough in him.
