Relationship with God Is Not a Maintenance Item

Relationship with God Is Not a Maintenance Item

I enjoy creating things. But I don't enjoy maintaining things. So I always create with minimal maintenance in mind. When I build something—no matter what the size or the purpose—I build it to function with minimal maintenance (or no maintenance, if at all possible). Don't get me wrong, I do maintain things—but not always with the best attitude. I would rather move on to the next project.

Are we the same in our relationship with God? Do we just maintain, at a bare minimum, our relationship with Him—and not always with the best attitude? Would we rather move on to something else?
These are critical questions in our study of faith. So let me ask another question: What if faith is not what we think it is?
