"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (New International Version, John 17:3). Eternal life is a certain quality of life that involves in-depth knowledge of and intimacy with God. To be in fellowship with God is to have eternal life. It is the person, not the place that should consume us. The chief goal of humanity is to worship God. Gradually, God, it appears, is regarded as a means to an end than an end itself. He is no longer the "one thing" that we desire (Psalm, 27:4) or the person with whom we want to spend significant time. God seems unworthy of our time and affection. Our inattentiveness to God must change. We must change. An appetite for the Holy One is needed. Does your soul thirsts for God as the deer pants for streams of water (Psalm, 42:1-2)?
