TGIM - Thank God It's Monday!

THE WORD IS: Now the LORD had said unto Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing...and in you shall all families of the Earth be blessed." So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him.... Genesis 12:1-4

THE POINT IS: Everyone wants to be blessed. God's all for that! In fact, He's the one who offers the blessing. Such a profound offer is indicative of God's amazing grace. Grace is God doing for us what we do not deserve and cannot afford. This is beautifully illustrated in the life of Abram (later known as Abraham). These verses describe the way that God dealt with Abram regarding the blessing. Notice that God initiated the whole thing. He came to Abram and made a generous offer to bless him. This is known as repentance, which involves a change of thinking, resulting in a change of direction: a turning from and a turning to. Abram stepped out in faith. He severed his earthly ties and left the comforts of home in obedience to God's instructions. Over the ensuing years, God blessed Abram abundantly! Abram became known as a great man because he chose to entrust his life to a great God. As a result of Abram's obedience, many people have been blessed.

THE APPLICATION IS: Since God said He wanted all the families of the Earth to be blessed, that surely means you too! God blesses us in order that we might be a blessing. God wants you to enjoy His blessings, but He also wants you to be a channel of blessing. Being blessed of God means that God bestows upon you His presence, power, protection and provisions.
