This section of Psalm 119 begins with the cry for the unfailing love of God. In the same breath is a plea for His Salvation. It is as if the unfailing love of God and the salvation of God are equated. A=B. The unfailing love of God = The salvation of God. ------- THEN I will answer the one who taunts me ------ Up until God reveals His UNFAILING love (which IS His salvation) there will be no answer for our adversaries, both visible and invisible. In our generation, EVEN among Jews, there is a tendency to treat Scripture as if it is not the inspired Word of the LIVING God, but the author of this Psalm has put his ALL of his hope and trust in it. ALL of his eggs are in the basket of God and His Word; all of his hope and trust is in the unfailing love / the Salvation of God. When the law of God is established in a mans heart in this way he walks in the enormous liberty of God -- I will walk about in Your freedom -- When we still trust in the things of this world, we look with suspicion on the laws of God. That way looks like it is going to be narrow, dark and gloomy. But to this author, the ways of God have become his salvation and he will almost certainly be called upon to bear this testimony before kings, who despite their earthly authority, rarely move into THIS kind of KINGdom, with these kinds of unfailing laws.
