“Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.”
Such an amazing and powerful performance with so many people in the crowd singing along with Yolanda and the choir. What a way to celebrate America’s birthday!
“On July fourth, A Capitol Fourth, America's National Independence Day celebration, honors our country's birthday with an all-star salute,” reads the caption of this YouTube video. “For over 40 years, this television event, featuring a parade of superstars, has offered the best in American entertainment and helped set the tone for a spectacular American birthday party. This top-rated extravaganza features coverage from 20 cameras positioned around Washington, D.C., ensuring viewers are front and center for the nation's most incredible fireworks display nation.”
The patriotic song ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’ is packed with Biblical imagery and phrasing. It was written by the abolitionist writer Julia Ward Howe, and she wrote her lyrics to the music of the song ‘John Brown's Body’ in November 1861. She first published them in The Atlantic Monthly, a well-known magazine, in February 1862 where was paid five dollars for her publication.
Yolanda Adams gave a gospel spin with her rendition of ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic,’ and her energy and spirit made the crowd go wild with cheering and singing. What a beautiful scene of Yolanda bringing people together with her gift and using her voice to unite people on the 4th of July!
