Woman Sings 'Give Me Jesus' After Father Passes Away

A heartwarming moment is shared online when this woman sings ‘Give Me Jesus’ after her father’s passing.

Angie Sutherland and her father, Edgar Napier, became viral sensations after she posted a video of the two singing ‘Lord, I Wanna Go To Heaven.’ Edgar was battling stage four cancer and one of his favorite pastimes was to sit on the porch in his rocking chair and play the guitar.

Angie would sing along and they would create the most beautiful sounds. Sadly, Edgar lost his fight on August 25, 2019.

Today, Angie is singing for the very first time since her father’s passing. She said, “Music is one of the special bonds that he and I will always share, no matter how far apart we are.” Just listen as she belts out the heartfelt words of ‘Give Me Jesus.’

“In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
Give me Jesus”

This classic hymn is always a favorite. It was originally written in the 1800s as an African-American spiritual hymn, but over the years the lyrics have been modernized. The most famous interpretation comes from Fernando Ortega, a Dove award-winning singer and songwriter.

These special words mean so much to so many people all around the world. In our times of sorrow, the lyrics can provide us comfort and remind us that we can always fall into the arms of the Lord. Prayers for Angie and her family during this difficult time.
