Knowing the One and Only...Who bore our punishment on the cross (John 19)

Oh the glory of the cross. The paradox is profound. The King of kings mocked with robe & crown, the Judge of the world convicted in a kangaroo-court, the Creator crucified by his creation. Sir John Bowring puts it well,

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering over the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers around its head sublime.

His last stanza reaches the climax:

When the woes of life over take me,
Hopes deceive, and fear annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me:
Lo! It glows with peace and joy.

In the cross we have an altar that we can return to when life seem to crush in on top of us. Today, let's journey back to graceat the cross.
