Top 10 Skillet Songs of All Time

You cannot mention Christian rock and not mention Skillet.  They have made a name for themselves and have created some amazing music!  Skillet is a very unique band.  No one sounds like them and their fan base is huge!  Christians and non-Christians have fallen in love with this band.  They have had a few line-up changes over the years but their music has always had that Skillet feel to it ever since the album Collide.

Here are my top 10 favorite songs by Skillet ever!  I’ll also include a favorite lyric from each song too.  Enjoy!

10. "Madness In Me" - Skillet

This song is all about the daily struggle of life, even more for the individual that is bombarded with chaotic event after chaotic event.

Lyric – “Just one spark is all it takes.  I tried so hard but it all goes up in flames.  This is not the way that I thought I would turn out to be.  Tried to get but all that I got was more insanity.  Broken everything that I touched; just gone against me.  I can’t get away!”

9. "Imperfection" - Skillet

We all have our failures and mistakes.  This song goes out to those who can’t seem to get over all of the mistakes they’ve made.  Your imperfections can be cast away!  You are special in God’s eyes!

Lyric – “You fall to your knees.  You beg, you plead.  Can I be somebody else for all the times I hate myself?  Your failures devour your heart in every hour.  You're drowning in your imperfection. 

8. "Awake And Alive" - Skillet

This is all about standing up for what you believe in.  Jesus said, “If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” (John 15:19)

Lyric – “I'm at war with the world cause I ain't never gonna sell my soul.  I've already made up my mind.  No matter what, I can't be bought or sold.”

7. "The Older I Get" - Skillet

We’ve all had friendships come and go but if you’ve ever lost a very close friendship you know how much it hurts.  This one is all about trying to get over everything and move on without the pain.

Lyric – “The older I get, will I get over it?  It's been way too long for the times we missed.  I didn't know then it would hurt like this, but I think the older I get maybe I'll get over it.  It's been way too long for the times we missed.  I can't believe it still hurts like this.”

6. "Hero" - Skillet

This song focuses on the fact that we need Jesus as our hero, even though Jesus’ name is not specifically mentioned.  He is referenced in lines like, “I’ve got a Hero livin’ in me.”  It also focuses on the fact that we can be heroes too and fight for what’s right.

Lyric – “I'm gonna fight for what's right.  Today I'm speaking my mind.  And if it kills me tonight (I will be ready to die).  A hero's not afraid to give his life.  A Hero's gonna save me just in time.”

5. "Comatose" - Skillet

Simply put, we were all in a comatose-like state until Jesus released us from our sin when we accepted Him as Lord and Savior.  This song is about waking up from the comatose.

Lyric – “I hate living without You.  Dead wrong to ever doubt You.  But my demons lay in waiting, tempting me away.  Oh how I adore You!  Oh how I thirst for You!  Oh how I need you!”

4. "Savior" - Skillet

This is one of their best songs!  It is Jesus singing to us telling us that we truly need Him!

Lyric – “There's nothing left to lose.  There's nothing left to prove.  Surrender your love.  It's all you can do, yeah!”

3. "The Last Night" - Skillet

True friendship is found in this song.  It’s about wrapping your arms around those in need and walking with them through their pain.

Lyric – “This is the last night you'll spend alone.  Look me in the eyes so I know you know I'm everywhere you want me to be.  The last night you'll spend alone, I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go.  I'm everything you need me to be.”

2. "Rebirthing" - Skillet

When you choose Christ you are “reborn”.  This song is about being reborn.

1. "Whispers In The Dark" - Skillet

This will always be their best song.  Its God singing to us, telling us that we are never alone!
