Child of Destiny

Child of Destiny

Five years ago Child of Destiny, a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation, commenced the support of Jubilee Children Center in Nairobi, Kenya to make a difference in the lives of orphaned children roaming in the streets and slums of Kenya, scavenging for food. These were victims of the death of both parents from HIV/AIDS pandemic, tribal and political cleansing.
Dr. Joe Symmon and Dr. AlyceJo M@!!i stepped out to change the lives of these vulnerable orphans.
On a 20 acre land, we have drilled 300feet Borehole to provide clean drinking water for the orphanage and the surrounding communities, built two dormitories for boys and girls to house over 400 kids, completed a 10 classroom primary school and an administration center and a library. Today over 100 orphans are housed, clothed, eating healthy diet, learning quality education in a friendly and conducive environment. Having been given a second chance in life, they now face the future with confidence and determination.
In January 2008, we admitted the first High School students in the first four classrooms out of the 30 being constructed buildings. We need to complete the ongoing 30 High School classrooms, Science Laboratories, hostels for boys and girls, an administration block, a dining hall and kitchen.
Besides the aforementioned, we have built a clinic up to the lintel level. The closest hospital is almost 30 miles away and no reliable transportation. We shall provide health education for our kids and outpatient services and maternity wards for the community in general. Since all our children are orphaned by HIV/AIDS victims, we shall emphatically educate them and the purlieus of the dangers of the disease.
In our pursuit to help orphans, we realize there are very poor families that can improve their livelihood with a small loan. We are now beginning a micro-finance project in order to eradicate poverty.<
