The Rapids of Bacalar is located on the Highway 307 between Bacalar town and Chetumal (the state capital of Quintana Roo). Nowadays the rapids is one of the prinicipal tourist attractions of Bacalar as well for its spectacular 7 blue-shaded lagoon and the Stromatolites or ‘living rocks. Its crystalline waters and different tones of blue attract thousands of tourists from all over the world who enjoy the view, a swim in its crystalline waters or kayaking through this narrow watercourse (about 5 meters wide and 800 meters long).
