‘Breakthrough’ is a true story based on the inspiring 2017 book from Joyce Smith titled ‘The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection.’

The film stars Chrissy Metz as mother, Joyce Smith. The Smith family is rocked by tragedy when their adopted son, John, falls into an icy lake.

After 15 minutes in the water, doctors assumed that John would not make it. But Joyce had faith in God and prayed over her son’s body. That’s when the Lord granted a miracle and John was saved.
