Christian Artist Lecrae Helps Build Sinks For The Homeless

Christian rapper Lecrae helps build sinks in Atlanta, Georgia to help homeless people wash their hands during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He teamed up with the nonprofit Love Beyond Walls to assemble portable handwashing stations and placed them throughout the city for the homeless population to use. Each handwashing station costs about $100 to put together, and it comes with soap and holds 10 gallons of water.

“So, it’s pretty easy. Self-explanatory,” says a member of Love Beyond Walls as she shows Lecrae how to build the sinks. “First thing you do is screw this part in here.”

“It works!” Lecrae says proudly after he successfully builds his first handwashing station.

Lecrae then goes out to some parks and other public places to put out the handwashing stations. He shows people how the sinks work and encourages them to use the sinks to keep their hands sanitized in order to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

When it comes to his music, Lecrae has released nine studio albums and three mixtapes as a solo artist. He has received nominations for Artist of the Year at the 43rd, 44th, and 45th GMA Dove Awards, and he won that award at the 46th GMA Dove Awards.

For his most recent album, Lecrae talked about the themes that he incorporated into his music, many of which are relevant to people, especially with all that is going on right now. “It’s about giving hope to people that they can overcome the fear and the insecurity when things do fall apart,” he shares. “The before and after of it all. It may get ugly in your life, but there’s a point of rediscovery where the fear can actually drive the faith and restore you. Sometimes you have to acknowledge where you are at before it can get better.”

It is great to see Lecrae using his time and money to help those less fortunate. During this time, may we all try to do the best we can to help one another in creative ways
