NSA creating secret network capable of launching cyberattacks (Second Coming Watch Update #461)

Description: 1. According to the New York Times, the National Security Agency has implanted software in nearly 100,000 computers around the world that allows the United States to conduct surveillance on those machines and can also create a digital highway for launching cyberattacks. While most of the software is inserted by gaining access to computer networks, the N.S.A. has increasingly made use of a secret technology that enables it to enter and alter data in computers even if they are not connected to the Internet. The N.S.A. calls its efforts more an act of “active defense” against foreign cyberattacks than a tool to go on the offensive.
2. According to Israel Today, Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hamad marked the anniversary of the December 2008-January 2009 "Gaza War" with Israel by telling Palestinians that they would fully liberate the entirety of "Palestine" within eight years. According to Hamad, Islamic prophecies foretell that Israel will be replaced with a Palestinian state. He explained that this goal, the destruction of the Jewish state, "will take eight years."

According to Reuters, NATO's deputy secretary-general said on Wednesday that Turkey has accepted assurances that a planned NATO missile defense system in which it is playing a part is not designed to protect Israel as well.
