Cory is a typical 14 year old teenager. He was born asphyxiated at birth. It took his doctor 10 minutes to revive him. As a result of this, he has suffered from hydrocephalus and had a VP shunt placement at the age of 10 months old. In the beginning, his overall quality of life was projected to be very grim according to physicians. We were told that more than likely he would never be able to lead a normal life. Cory has overcome many of the obstacles that he has faced. However, as a result of his brain injury he does struggle with his academics, gross motor skills and fitting in with his peers. Through the power of prayer and God's healing hand being placed upon Cory's life, this is the reason he has been able to overcome a lot of these obstacles. Cory really enjoys singing and the Duke Blue Devils is his favorite basketball team (and I might add, that he is truly one of the most loyal fans). He may not have the skills needed to be the best basketball player, but we know that once in Heaven, with his new perfect body, he will be one of the greatest all-stars! What a blessing he has been to us. In the beginning life seemed so uncertain, but day by day God just keeps revealing to us all that he has in store for him.
