God's Lovingkindness, wide as rolling heather

God's Lovingkindness, wide as rolling heather

A small revision of previous video, when I realised I'd overlooked something...

(Guds Kärlek är som stranda och som gräset) is a well-known song from the 1960's that has also been used on a number of public occasions, including a royal wedding. It has four verses, but only two are sung in the recording.

My translation (with revisions) of the full text is posted below:
God's Lovingkindness, (previous: God’s Love is wide)
Wide as rolling heather (previous: and open as the heather)
Is open freedom on a blissful shore (previous: like freely roaming on a grassy shore)
He gave us right
to go up there and wander
To live our lives
with Him or to withdraw.

God's Lovingkindness,
Wide as rolling heather
Is open freedom on a blissful shore

We want for freedom
built of lovingkindness
Where we become
the best of who we are
where dreams can thrive,
and not hallucinations;
there where our longings
blossom and find root

God's Lovingkindness,
Wide as rolling heather
Is open freedom on a blissful shore

And have we still
the bars of fear between us
With wistful arms
stretched out between the steel?
The Love of God
is mighty to release us
The Love of God
is powerful and real

God’s love is wide
and open as the heather
like freely roaming on a grassy shore

O Judge us Lord
with pardon in your deeming
In your forgiveness
lies our hope and peace
Your mercies all
-unending lovingkindness-
Envelop every
land and folk and speech
