'We Fall Down' Chris Tomlin Live Performance

In this video, Chris Tomlin performs ‘We Fall Down’ at one of the earliest Passion conferences.

Passion is a Christian organization that was founded in 1997 by Louie Giglio. The organization puts on annual gatherings aimed at college students and young adults, with the first conference taking place in 1997 in Austin, Texas.

At this gathering, you can see young people passionately praising our Heavenly Father. There are people covering the field, on their hands and knees, showing reverence to our great God. A younger Chris Tomlin is shown on stage leading the crowd in worship with the song ‘We Fall Down.’

“We fall down
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of
Mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus

And we cry holy holy holy
And we cry holy holy holy
And we cry holy holy holy
Is the Lamb”

Then Chris Tomlin address the crowd and shares that he wants to teach them how to sing it in another language.

“Last fall we were in Africa,” Tomlin says. “And in just a minute we're going to call Botswana, Africa. And they're gathered around with us and listening in. As we were there, in Africa, they taught me this song. They said, 'We want to teach it to you in our language, which is Setswana.' It's very simple, and I want to teach it to you. We're going to call them in a minute, and the first thing they're going to hear is you guys singing this song to them in their language. It's going to be beautiful.”

That’s when Chris Tomlin starts singing the lyrics into the microphone in Setswana, and the crowd joins him. What an incredible thing to see this large group of young people praise our Heavenly Father, in both English and Setswana. It is a great reminder of the global church and how God’s name is praised all across the nations.
