'Mary Did You Know' From Country Star Brett Young

‘Mary Did You Know’ is one of the most famous modern day Christmas songs. Today, talented country artist Brett Young is belting out these powerful lyrics and it is beyond beautiful.

‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’

Young performed this special song as part of the annual CMA Country Christmas special. Hosted by Reba McEntire, this concert brings top artists together to perform many of our favorite Christmas songs all in one night.

Over the years, ‘Mary Did You Know’ has become a staple at the event and this rendition is one of the best. The song was originally recorded in 1991 after Mark Lowry, the songwriter, took 7 years to perfect the lyrics. The idea came to Lowry when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell and he started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him. That’s how he put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics we all know and love today.

‘Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am’

Isaiah 7:14 ‘Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.’
