Christian A Cappella Songs: Top 10 List

There is something wonderful about a Christian a cappella song. That term “a cappella” has its root in Italian and it literally means “in the manner of the chapel” because in years past church music was sung without instrumental accompaniment. Although it began in the church, it became popular once again in the 1950’s and 1960’s as street singers stood on the corner singing their a cappella tunes. It is a style, even today, that includes voices that even mimic drums, bass and other instruments. I especially love to hear the great songs of faith sung in parts, a cappella. Here are my top 10 picks for Christian A Cappella Songs.

10. Easter Song

Favorite Lyrics – “The angel up on the tombstone said he has risen, just as he said. Quickly now, go tell his disciples that Jesus Christ is no longer dead”

7. Silent Night

1. Holy, Holy, Holy

My all time favorite Christian song that is sung a cappella is this hymn. No accompaniment required, just pour your heart and soul in and sing! Oh, how I look forward to the day when I can bow before Jesus and sing this to His face. I found this video from several years ago with the Cathedrals quartet; a truly worshipful presentation, enjoy!
