A Long-Lost Postcard From a Man's Late Parents Shows Up After 26 Years, 'A Postcard From Heaven'

A man received a postcard from heaven on an ordinary day when he opened his mailbox. The postcard had been sent 26 years earlier by his parents. It’s been years since they passed away, so to suddenly receive a postcard from them felt like a truly inexplicable gift.

A Postcard from Heaven Makes Its Way to Man’s Mailbox

The couple, John and Joanne Sheppard, had been traveling in Copenhagen, Denmark, and wanted to let their son, Bob, know that they had landed safely. Bob’s dad died six years ago, and his mother died 3 years ago. 

It’s a wonder why the postcard got sent so many years later. Bob’s postman believes it probably got misplaced or fell behind a desk or cabinet and was only found recently. 

They must have said, “Hey, the guy still lives at the same address. Let's go ahead and send it to him," Bob said.

John had died during the pandemic, and Bob never got to say goodbye to him because he was not allowed to visit, which deeply bothers him. 

“This was to me almost a postcard from heaven,” says Bob. 

Postcard a Symbol of Parents’ Love and Passion 

Joanne and John were world travelers. Just a couple of the places they went were China, England, and the Galapagos Islands. For their celebration-of-life ceremonies, Bob made a chart of all the places they visited and when, along with photos. He’s happy to add the postcard to the collage. It’s something that he will always treasure. 

It’s incredibly sweet that someone in Denmark found that old postcard and decided to mail it to Bob. It means the world to him that he now has this sweet memento.
