Jim Bob Duggar: Bio, Christian Faith and Quotes

Over the years the TLC television network has included many reality shows focusing in on families. Their most recent endeavor includes the Duggar family. The Duggar family consists of twenty-four members, including grandchildren (2) and spouses (1). Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are the parents of nineteen children, and they are still “counting”. 19 Kids and Counting is the name of their popular television show exploring the family’s lifestyle and faith.

Jim Bob Duggar Bio

James Robert “Jim Bob” Duggar is the central figure in the Duggar family. He has raised, and is in the process of raising, 19 children in a Christ-centered home. Jim Bob was born on July 18, 1965 in Springdale, Arizona. He married his wife Michelle Duggar closely following his nineteenth birthday on July 21st, 1984.

It was not until four years into their marriage however that they even considered having children. Children can be difficult to afford so they chose a birth control option and spent time building their marriage. They waited until just the right time to begin the process of expanding. It was cheaper for Michelle to use birth control pills but that cost them a lot of pain after having returned to the pill following the birth of their first child only to find out that their second conceived child was miscarried. This really shook both Jim Bob and Michelle’s faith in God, as well as their conscience.

Following this loss the couple realized they needed to ask for God’s forgiveness and for God to give them a heart for children. God did exactly that, forgiving them, and has blessed their family with 19 children (10 boys, 9 girls).

The couple agrees that the Word of God, the Bible, is the truth. Psalm 127:3 says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Jim Bob and Michelle rejoice in the blessings they have received by God’s gifts to them by way of their children.

Jim Bob is a Commercial Real Estate Investor. When he is not working in real estate he enjoys spending time with his family. He hopes to invest in the lives of his children and grandchildren. It is his prayer that all of his children will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Jim’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28, which says, “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

The Faith of Jim Bob Duggar

Growing up in a home that attended church on a regular basis Jim knew, by the time he was seven years old, that he had done things wrong and recognized his need to ask Jesus to forgive him. Throughout his life his mother had been his spiritual leader encouraging him to trust in the Lord when things are going good as well as when things are going poorly.

Jim believes that God sent His only Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for the sins of the world. Jim’s acceptance of this “Good News” has inclined his family toward fellowship with God and each other in close community.
