FedEx Worker Gives Birth at Work, After Not Knowing She Was Actually Pregnant

A family got a very special delivery last month. A woman gave birth at FedEx, and she didn’t even know she was pregnant. It’s a memory she’ll never forget.

The woman, Amethyst Blumberg, who works at a FedEx facility in Grimes, Iowa, had just finished a work shift when she suddenly felt like she had to use the bathroom.

"After that, I couldn’t even get off the toilet,” she said, adding that she was able to open the door and call for help.

"I get up, and I'm like, I feel his head," she recalled.

The fire patrol arrived just before the baby was born and assisted with the delivery.

She ended up giving birth on the floor of her workplace at 8:33 a.m. Her baby, whom she named Onyx King Easterlie, weighed 6 lbs, 8 oz, and measured 19 inches long.

She Had Absolutely No Signs of Pregnancy

"With my first one, I had all the symptoms,” she recalled of her first pregnancy. “With this one, I had nothing at all. I was losing weight at work."

The only signs she ever felt were when she was in the bathroom.

"The only thing I felt was when my back started hurting from back labor. And when he was descending, I felt him move," she said.

A ‘Perfect’ Little Bundle

"I've seen a lot of things in my field, so I don't get too much surprised anymore," Nick Pearson of the Johnston-Grimes Fire District said. "I’m just very happy that she was healthy and the baby was healthy."

“He’s perfect,” Amethyst said. “He’s our FedEx baby.”

Wow—what an incredible thing that this little baby stayed hidden throughout his mom’s whole pregnancy. Onyx’s birth will be a story to tell for many generations!
