7 Bible Scriptures To Put To Memory In 2015
April 10, 2015

2015 has taken off quickly with lots of headline news and global events. The year began with the crisis of terrorism in full force, extreme and uncontrollable weather, and the devastation of disease. As believers, we can take heart that Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Because of Jesus’ promise, we can have hope in the year 2015 regardless of the global economy or any other crisis. Learn and put to memory the following 7 Bible scriptures for the year 2015:
Strength and courage in 2015
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
There are lots of reasons for being weak and timid as many nations continue the slippery slide downwards in immorality and injustice. However there’s one reason to not let the intimidations of the world wrap around our hearts—God. The Lord will never leave His people and even in times of persecution, He is still in control. We must step up our faith in God and stand with courage in the face of much opposition in 2015.
Fear God and not man in 2015
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).
Fear will always be a part of our culture until Jesus returns. However believers don’t have to be afraid of anyone or anything. If our focus is on the Lord, it will show in our respect and awe for God and His word. Many misinterpret grace as the ability to do whatever they want and still be a part of the body of Christ. However, the fear of the Lord is evident in how we speak, live, and interact with others.
Refuse to be worried in 2015
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
By April 2015 we’ve already had plane crashes, believers killed for their faith, and riots with destruction of whole communities. The advancement of social media brings the violence and tragedy right to our doorsteps. As believers in Christ Jesus, we must respond with prayer in the spirit of peace. We can refuse to allow anxious thoughts to control our actions or steal our sleep by prayer with thanksgiving.
Hope in God in 2015
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 43:5).
Can there ever be peace between nations that have been warring against each other for hundreds of years? Not guaranteed. Until Jesus comes back there will always be war in some part of the world. The continuation of strife among and within culture can breed a spirit of hopelessness. Yet just knowing the Lord can bring renewed hope even in the midst of chaos. We bring the hope to our homes, schools, work, and communities when we speak life from the word of God.
Find contentment in 2015
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that” (1 Timothy 6:6-8)
People of this world continue to do everything they can to amass the most expensive material goods. Some have killed or stolen simply for the pleasure of earthly things. However in 2015, believers can focus on what is really of the best value in this lifetime—a relationship with God. When we are connected to the Lord, we find ourselves ceasing to strive for material gains and instead look to find contentment in the everyday experiences.
Trust in God in 2015
“In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (Psalm 56:4).
When life suddenly becomes unglued due to death, sickness, loss of finances, or broken relationships—we are tempted to not trust in God. We mistakenly believe that God has an obligation to forewarn us of life’s upcoming events or at the very least—only let good things come our way. However, the Lord is worthy of our trust in good and bad times. When we stand on the firm foundation of trusting in Him, we grow in our faith in ways we would’ve never imagined.
Receive forgiveness in 2015
“You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you” (Psalm 86:5).
Many of us enter every New Year carrying the same regret and shame from years past. The problem is that the load gets heavier every year as we rack up more sins. Our relief from this state of flux is coming to the Lord and seeking His forgiveness. Jesus Christ already took the punishment for the sins of everyone, we only need to come repentant and ready to change.
Every Year is the Lord’s
Some of us mark years of our past as good or bad. Yet the Lord is God of them all. Nothing catches Him off guard. Because He is the beginning and the end—there’s no reason to fear or give up when things are tough. We have His promise to keep us and use every situation to turn for our good. Take action in 2015 as you memorize and live out these scriptures every day.
