It is so important they know it truly was never about them, but about the disease that lingers and manifests in many life forms after abuse. Let's be honest, being mean, running, shutting people out, and blaming others is a mask to hide our own hurt, pain and deep scars of feeling broke and incomplete inside. It is real and something one cannot imagine let alone understand not even those of us who have been abused. Put yourself in the shoes of those closest to you and consider being on the receiving end. If we can't comprehend what is happening inside us we surely cannot expect others to until we get counseling as we seek to understand.
