The world is becoming an increasingly visual place. We tend to 'look' more than read these days, and we are constantly bombarded with images that affect the way we think.



There is a visual dialogue taking place in our culture and we, as Christians, ought to be involved in it. We need to understand the visual language of our times and learn to speak it ourselves, if we are to engage our society in a relevant and dynamic way. When we do, we are in a position to change the world through the art we produce.



Our goal at SCA is to provide you with the skills and understanding you will need to effectively minister life through your art. Our vision is to see students going on to become powerful voices in their worlds through their chosen art forms.



The visual arts course is very practical, centred around painting and drawing. It begins with a firm foundation of drawing fundamentals, learning to see. We then explore various media: !@@%king, pastel, watercolour, acrylic and oil, all the time working through a variety of subjects and themes. You will become part of the art world with visits to galleries

and field trips for painting and drawing. In fact we will launch you into the art world by requiring you as an Advanced Diploma student to mount a solo exhibition in a Gallery space in the community.



We aim to draw out that which God has placed within you and we provide an environment in which your God-given creativity will flourish.
