Sermon: "The Gift-Giving Christ," Part 2
As Christmas approaches, we think of the gifts we will give to our loved ones and the joy that comes during this time of year. Perhaps we do so because at the birth of Christ the Magi came and presented to him their gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh. But Christ not only receives gifts from men, he also gives them! By his triumph over death and glorous ascension into heaven, he blesses the church with gifts that far surpass our gold, incense, and myrrh. Each of them is vital to our spiritual life. Watch as Pastor MacLaren explains what gifts Christ has given us today that specially promote the peace and unity of the church. This sermon was recorded at First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, PA, on December 14, 2008. The sermon is based on Paul's words in Ephesians 4:7-16. A Prayer for God to Be Your Shield and Portion Today - Your Daily Prayer - May 24
I love this passage in the Bible because it sums up the spiritual reality in all difficult circumstances. How many times do we see the enemy and opposing forces against us, just like Elisha’s servant? And that puts us in a panic - yet the angelic armies of the Living God are unseen but present nonetheless, and far greater. We just need to see that substantial truth!
