My inspiration for Your Sins Are Washed Away is seeing all of the people that are separated from Christ because they feel unworthy. They feel they have done too much wrong to be close to God. In this song, I wanted to illustrate how Biblically, Jesus showed love, forgiveness, and mercy to the sinner. There is the parable of the father and the prodical son in Luke 15. When the son did his father so wrong that he had no reason to believe he could be more than a hired servant, he went back to his father and found joy, love, and a warm reception. This speaks to how gracious and willing the Lord is to have us as His children. The second verse eludes to the woman found in adultery in John 8. She was thrown in front of Jesus for judgement. Instead of showing judgement, He showed mercy and forgiveness and compelled everyone else refrain from judgement and walk away. Romans 5:8: God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
