The Carpenters Hands

A Song Tribute to my Father.

THE CARPENTERS HANDS

MY FATHER IS A CARPENTER, HIS HANDS REFLECT HIS LIFE
THE TOIL OF HIS LABOR, FOR HIS CHILDREN AND HIS WIFE.
THE SCARS ON THEM ARE MANY,
SHOWING OF THE TIMES THEY'VE BLED.
THE PERILS OF THE CRAFT HE CHOSE TO KEEP HIS FAMILY FED.

CHORUS
HANDS, HANDS IT'S WRITTEN IN THE HANDS.
THE TELLING OF LIFE'S STORY IS WRITTEN IN THE HANDS.
THE TRIAL AND THE GLORY OF ALL OF LIFE'S DEMANDS.
THE TELLING OF LIFE'S STORY IS WRITTEN IN THE HANDS.

THE HANDS, NOT ALWAYS GENTLE,
WERE DEFT IN MANY WAYS
HE CRAFTED WOOD AND CHILDREN,
WHEN HE WORKED AND WHEN HE PLAYED
HE TAUGHT HIS CHILDREN TOUGHNESS,
AND HE TAUGHT THEM HOW TO LOVE
FIDELITY AND FAITHFULNESS
AND TO LOOK FOR STRENGTH ABOVE

CHORUS

THERE WAS ANOTHER CARPENTER, SO MANY YEARS AGO.
WHOSE ADOPTED SON WOULD SAVE THE WORLD,
THE LOVE OF GOD TO SHOW.
THIS HOLY SON WAS JESUS, WHO DIED TO SAVE US ALL
HIS HANDS WOULD BEAR THE NAILS FOR US,
TO KEEP US FROM THE FALL.
BRIDGE

AND WHEN HE'D RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.
MOST KNEW HIM BY THEIR FAITH.
HE HAD TO SHOW HIS HANDS TO SOME.
TO PROVE HE'D CONQUERED DEATH.

CHORUS
