A Leap of Faith Doesn’t Have to Be a Leap of Terror
Living by faith is not supposed to be a terrifying experience. But it will be unless you grow in the knowledge of God.
To have faith in God the way He intends for me to have faith in Him requires that I know Him. And the more that I know Him, the more faith I have in Him.
Yes, that initial faith in God doesn't require any knowledge of Him, and is a lot like stepping off of the edge of a cliff—unless, of course, something so terrible is chasing you that jumping off the edge seems like your only reasonable option.
But if all you know about God is what you experienced when you traded your guilt and shame for a life in Heaven, then applying faith to whatever comes against you will continue to seem like jumping off the edge of a cliff.
To know Him more is to trust Him more—knocking the fear out of facing whatever you have to face.
