Talented Firefighters Sing 'Do They Know It's Christmas' For Charity

‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ is one of the most well known Christmas song of the modern age. The powerful tune was penned in 1984 Bob Geldof and Midge Ure after they saw news reports about the famine in Ethiopia. The writers put together a group of some of the biggest singers and musicians, at the time, and they called themselves Band Aid. The song immediately became a hit and helped to raise money for Africa. Since that time, it’s become a staple during Christmas time.

‘And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
No rain or rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?’

Today, a whole new group is performing this song and they hope to achieve some of the same success while raising money for charity. The Fire Tones are a talented ensemble of firefighters from all over the United Kingdom. They recorded the iconic song in aid of The Firefighters Charity and The Band Aid Charity Trust. This is definitely a very special song and the lyrics are so powerful.

It’s incredible to see a group of brave men and women come together to give ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ a new sound this year. And I can’t get over just how amazing all of their voices sound when they blend together. What an awe-inspiring rendition from these firefighters. Let’s use this song to remind ourselves to say a prayer for all of those around the world who may not experience the type of Christmas we do.
