Wife Sings 'Amazing Grace' To Her Dying Husband Days Before He Passes

At just 32 years old, doctors diagnosed Tony Gibson with a rare and incurable disease. They gave the father-of-four only a year to live. And in a tear-jerking video, Tony's wife sang 'Amazing Grace' to her dying husband just days before he passed away.

Tony Gibson suffered from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), which is described as the human form of mad cow disease.

The rare, incurable disorder can cause dementia, limited mobility and memory issues.

“This is a very tragic disease where there is no treatment,” said Dr. William Schaffner, an Infectious Disease Specialist at Vanderbilt where Tony was treated. “Patients sink into withdrawal, and eventually a semi-comatose state.”

The condition came on quickly and was a devastating blow to the Gibson family. Tony and his wife, Danielle, have two sets of twin girls.

And within a year, the heartbreaking disease landed Tony in an assisted living facility.

God's Amazing Grace In Tough Times

Tony's diagnosis has been hard on Danielle. And in dark times like this, all you can really do is hang on to God.

Near the end, not much could calm Tony down. But Danielle found that one of Tony's favorite hymns always seemed to bring him peace. And as cameras rolled, they captured the special moment Tony's wife sang 'Amazing Grace' to her dying husband.

As Danielle Gibson beautifully sang the touching words to her husband, Tony couldn't take his eyes off her.

“Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me

I once was lost, but now am found

T'was blind but now I see

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear

And Grace, my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed”

Tragically, only a few days after the touching video, Tony passed away. He left behind his wife, Danielle, and four daughters. Tony did not have any life insurance so the family is depending on God to provide for them during this difficult time.
