Woman in Handicapped Spot Is Blocked by Careless Driver and What She Says Is Powerful

A woman confronts someone needlessly and selfishly parked in a handicapped designated loading zone, and her response is powerful, serving as a reminder that situations can change drastically over time. 

Everyone has pet peeves, personal annoyances and other things that get under their skin. Perhaps it’s the person too lazy to walk 10 feet to place their cart in the cart return so they leave it sitting haphazardly in the parking lot. Maybe it’s failing to place the seat down or talking and texting during a movie. Whatever the case, people have an unfortunate habit of not considering or caring how their actions impact others.

In a post on social media, one woman documented a common pet peeve of many, and she actually confronted the offending individual. The woman, who is disabled, writes on Facebook that she was out picking up donuts for a work meeting. Needing to grab and go, the woman took advantage of the drive-thru window.

However, after going through the drive-thru and checking her order, the woman learned that her order was incorrect. This time, instead of going back through the drive-thru, she decided to go inside the business. 

After quickly surveying the parking lot, the woman discovered that a handicapped space was available. But, as she writes, it was, in fact, not open.

Another individual decided it was acceptable to park her Honda in the clearly marked handicapped loading zone next to the handicapped space. 

The handicapped woman was unable to exit her vehicle once in the handicapped spot. The woman picking up donuts for her colleagues had to wait nearly 20 minutes because of the carelessness of one individual.

Handicapped Woman Confronts Driver Parked in Handicapped Loading Zone

The handicapped individual then confronted the driver of the Honda, the post states. She asked her to remain aware of handicapped loading zones and not park in them. 

Instead of apologizing for her error, the post states the Honda driver callously responded, “Whatever.”

“This woman didn’t care today, but one day she will,” the woman writes. “We’re pretty much all going to need the ADA spot at one point in our lives. Encourage everyone to start caring before then. Because it’s only a matter of time until you’re also stuck waiting for someone who doesn’t care.”

It doesn’t require skill, talent or even much time to think of others. Like unexpected kindness, a little consideration for others can go a long way and make a big difference.
