A two-year-old found by a volunteer and a K9 after she wandered off was missing for hours until an angel with fur stepped in. In the small town of Dorchester, New Hampshire, a quiet Friday afternoon turned into every parent’s nightmare when a two-year-old girl went missing.
She’d been playing in her fenced front yard with the family’s two dogs when the gate somehow swung open, and within moments, she was gone. Her mother searched and called until her voice cracked the air with worry. The minutes stretched long and thin—forty-five of them—before New Hampshire Fish and Game and State Police received the call.

As the shadows deepened, the town came alive with compassion. Nearly a hundred volunteers gathered—neighbors, firefighters, and strangers—all combing the woods with flashlights and prayers. Among them were Jeremy Corson and his K-9 partner, Freya, from New England K-9 Search and Rescue. And while others searched by sight, Freya searched by faith—or perhaps by divine instinct.
Jeremy and Freya pushed through thick brush and fading light when Freya suddenly stopped, ears high, tail wagging. Jeremy followed her gaze, and there she was—the missing little girl, huddled and cold but alive.
“It was a very sweet moment,” Jeremy said, his voice thick with emotion. “You’re able to scoop her up and start asking her questions, making some assessment, and the first thing she says to me was, ‘I’m cold, I think I’m ready for a bath.’ And that just broke my heart. I’m like, all right, let’s get you home and have that bath.”
The toddler wasn’t hurt, just chilled from the autumn air. As rescuers carried her to a waiting ambulance, she smiled at Freya, her tiny hand reaching for the furry face that had found her.
Conservation officer Chris McKee praised the community’s love in motion. “Without the volunteers and all the other agencies that were there,” he said, “it might not have had a happy ending like it did.”
But the real hero—if you asked anyone that night—had four paws and a heart that seemed tuned to heaven’s frequency. Freya didn’t just track a scent; she followed a divine breadcrumb trail, a whisper from God saying, this way, girl.
It’s amazing how God so often uses His creatures to remind us He’s near. The same God who spoke through a donkey in Scripture, who sent ravens to feed Elijah, still sends His love wrapped in fur and faithfulness. These loyal companions are His four-pawed messengers—guardians who show up when we least expect them but need them most.
Maybe that’s why, when Freya found that little girl, heaven wagged its tail right along with her.
And isn’t that just like God—to send His angels with muddy paws and soft eyes? Because sometimes grace doesn’t descend from clouds—it comes bounding through the forest, tail wagging, nose to the ground, and heart wide open.
Freya was one of those gifts—proof that love can bark, faith can sniff out hope in the dark, and miracles sometimes arrive on four legs.
