Farmer Plants 80 Acres of Sunflowers to Gift Wife on 50th Wedding Anniversary

Planting 80 acres of sunflowers for his wife was one Kansas man's labor of love. The farmer took on the huge task as a beautiful tribute to their 50 years of marriage!

Marriage is one of the most difficult and rewarding things an individual can do in life. No marriage is perfect, and not every day will be sunshine and roses. Anyone who has been married for more than a week understands that arguments and rough patches are part of the relationship.

So, whenever a couple reaches a momentous milestone in their relationship, it’s always a good idea to recognize such an occasion. That’s what Lee Wilson, a farmer in Kansas, did when it came to his and his wife’s 50th wedding anniversary, according to a clip posted on YouTube.

However, instead of purchasing his wife an overpriced bouquet of roses or daffodils, Lee gave her a little more than 12 flowers. He gave his wife more than 1 million sunflowers.

The clip mentions that Lee and his son planted the sunflowers, his wife’s favorite, across 80 acres in May. Also, somehow, Lee was able to keep the flowers a surprise.

While Lee and his wife have been married for 50 years, they were actually high school sweethearts. 

What an unbelievable and jaw-dropping display of love!

Lee’s massive gift of sunflowers for his wife will forever and always make a typical bouquet of flowers look like there was very little to no effort. However, while Lee’s wife had to be absolutely blown away by her gift, Lee may have set the bar too high.

How do you ever top giving someone more than 1 million flowers? It will be interesting to see what Lee does next year for their 51st anniversary. Will Lee be in the doghouse if his wife doesn’t get at least a couple hundred thousand flowers next year?
