Her story began with the joyous anticipation of welcoming her newborn son, Adam, into the world. As Andrea experienced mild contractions, the couple rushed to the hospital, eagerly anticipating the arrival of their precious baby. Admitted to the delivery room, their excitement turned into overwhelming joy when Adam was born smoothly, marking the end of a seemingly routine delivery night.

However, the elation swiftly turned to heartbreak as the medical staff whisked Adam away from Andrea and her husband. Instead of the anticipated bliss of cutting the umbilical cord, her husband bore witness to a flurry of medical staff swiftly taking Adam away. That’s when Mr. West caught just a glimpse of his precious son when turned to Andrea and delivered terrifying news. "Honey, there’s something wrong with Adam’s leg,” he said. 

Left in the ward alone, Andrea West remained oblivious to the unfolding drama outside. No one had yet revealed the nature of Adam's condition, and the void of information only added to her anxiety. She had no idea if her son was still alive and the fear of losing another child overwhelmed her. The moments spent alone watching the seconds tick by reminded Andrea of her first pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage. 

Later, it would be disclosed that Adam's right leg and abdomen exhibited a disconcerting marbled pattern of purple and black discoloration. When Andrea West finally learned the cause behind her son's issues, it floored her.

With a diagnosis of Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita (CMTC), the family faced an unparalleled challenge of what his life would look like. What is CMTC? It's an incredibly rare vascular malformation -- with only 500 worldwide cases at the time of Adam's birth.

Andrea shared, “Throughout it all, despite being aware of his differences from other children, Adam has never viewed his disability as an obstacle.” 

In the intricate journey of motherhood, it is a daunting revelation to comprehend our heavenly Father harbors a love for our children even greater than our own. Yet, in acknowledging this, there is solace in the understanding that God, the orchestrator of our stories, has paved the way for us before the challenges of life ever unfold. We can praise God knowing he has Andrea West and her son Adam firmly in his hands. The West family's journey, guided by faith and love, serves as an inspiration for others navigating their own paths through life's uncertainties.
