Great-Grandma Tests Positive For Coronavirus 2 Days After 104th Birthday But Keeps Fighting

After testing positive for coronavirus, a 104-year-old woman keeps fighting and makes it through! Her name is Vera Mueller, and she is one of the oldest people in the nation to have survived getting the virus.

It was just two days after her 104^th birthday that Vera started experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Vera’s son, Bob Mueller, said that she had a high fever, a hard time breathing, and a cough. That’s when Vera was quarantined in a separate room at Sauer Health Care, the facility where she lives. Once she recovered, Vera was able to move back into her room.

“She always kept saying, ‘I want to get back to my own room.’ And I think that gave her the willpower, maybe, to keep fighting,” said Bob Mueller.

104-Year-Old Great-Grandma Recovers From Coronavirus

Vera has 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. While she is recovering, her family has been able to visit with her by going to her window and interacting with each other with a glass pane between them.

"We take one day at a time, day-by-day and hour-by-hour because don't know how long she'll be with us yet,” Bob explained. “She's very weak from this whole episode so we're just thankful every time we can go to the window and talk or wave to her."

Throughout all this, Vera has been able to cling to her faith and loved ones to make it through.

“It’s been her faith and her family that’s helped her through all this,” her son shared. “We treasure every day that we get to see her.”
