Blind Bride Asks Groom and Wedding Guests to Wear a Blindfold to Experience Her World

Blind bride Lucy Edwards had her groom and wedding guests wear a blindfold as she walked down the aisle. And it was a unique way for them to experience a little bit of what she goes through on a daily basis.

Many people get stuck and set in their ways. They refuse to change their opinions or even consider other thoughts or ideas on a number of topics. They see things from their perspective, and so that must be the only and correct way, many people believe.

But, of course, that is an erroneous type of thinking.

A clip posted on YouTube shows that a blind woman, on her wedding day, wanted to show her future husband and those attending the ceremony what it’s like to be blind. And she came up with a special way for them to do just that!

Groom And Wedding Guests Wear A Blindfold

The video begins with the bride, dressed in her beautiful wedding dress, exiting the vehicle and arriving at the church. With help from her bridesmaids and a man presumed to be her father, the young woman makes her way to the church. As she does this, text appears in the video explaining what she asked her future husband and guests to do and why.

“I’m blind and I blindfolded my sighted husband and guests when I walked down the aisle… this is their reaction when they lived a moment in my shoes,” the text reads.

The video continues as the young woman reaches her future husband, who wears a blindfold, as she requested. But then more text pops up, stating something beautiful, a special moment took place between her and her groom.

“Before Ollie took his blindfold off we had a moment for him to feel my dress so he could know why I chose it,” the text reads.

That’s a special moment they will remember for the rest of their lives. The video is also a reminder to be more empathic. Stop, consider and look at situations from the perspective of others. What does it feel and look like to be in their shoes? How would I react if in that position?

A Prayer for Dealing with Family Rejection This Holiday Season - Your Daily Prayer - December 5

One of the best times of the year can also be one of the most difficult. Harvest décor leads into Christmas bells and lights. We fill the calendar slots with parties and events. This can create a low-level hum of anxiety if the upcoming family get-togethers feel like a risky walk through a minefield.
