Teens Are Heroes After Saving Family From Fire On Their Prom Night
June 03, 2025

Four New York teens saved a family from a fire on the night of their prom, never once stopping to think twice. Their brave and selfless actions helped save the lives of a father and his two daughters before their garage completely collapsed… What would have happened if they hadn’t been there?

On the night of May 17th, four teens, Aiden Kane, Morgan Randall, Donato Jellenichr, and Tyler Sodj, had decided to leave prom early and go to a friend's house. Thank God they did because on the way there, Morgan saw a house’s attached garage that was up in flames.
The teens stopped a safe distance away from the home and leapt out. Aiden, who had a camera running, ran to check if anyone was inside. He “pounded” on the door and was shocked to see two girls and their dad still in the building.
“Your house is on fire! Your house is on Fire!” the teen shouted. “You guys gotta get out!”

While Aiden was rushing the family out, Donato called 911, and Tyler got near the fire to listen for screams—in case anyone was trapped in the garage. When he didn’t hear or see anyone, he walked toward the part of the house that hadn’t caught flame yet. When he did, he heard loud popping sounds and the garage seemed to explode.
Aiden got the kids and led them to his car. He calmly told the girls, “You’re okay. You’re okay.”
His girlfriend, Morgan, comforted them while he went back for their dad.

What Would Have Happened If They Weren’t There
“Something clearly exploded and the fire got pushed out pretty far,” said Tyler. “So if Aiden didn't go up there and get those people out, I think that the fire could have spread.”
Maynard Fire Chief Jared Pearl says Tyler is right about that.
“If they didn’t do this, if they didn’t get everyone out and call 911, it may have been three to four minutes before we got there. And by then, the house would have been fully involved,” he said.
The family is very grateful to the teens for being there and urging them out of the building.
Isn’t it wonderful that the teens had decided to leave prom early? The house fire could have been a disaster. But thanks to them, the house and its inhabitants were saved.
