Stray Dogs in Mexico Fill His Cart in the Amazing Story Behind Edgardo Juarez, 'Savior of the Dogs'

Edgardo "Perros" Juarez has spent 6 years walking more than 8,000 miles all to care for the stray dogs in Mexico. He's saved the lives of more than 500 strays, earning him the nickname, "Savior of the Dogs." And his incredible story is inspiring so many!

When photographer Stuart Williams was driving through Mexico, an odd sight caught his attention. A man named Edgardo Juarez was pushing a shopping cart filled with dogs.

"Dogs were on top of his trolley. Dogs were behind him, in front of him and by his side," Stuart recalled. "Tails were wagging furiously, barks were sounding and he just kept pushing his trolley through the heat."

Intrigued, Stuart had to know this man's story. And once he learned the unbelievable lengths Egardo was going to in order to save the stray dogs in Mexico, Stuart knew he had to share this incredible story with the rest of the world!

Stray Dogs In Mexico Have A Guardian Angel

Edgardo Juarez is more often called Edgardo Perros (Perros is Spanish for "dogs"). He has spent 6 years walking the perimeter of his country to save as many stray dogs in Mexico as he can.

“No one helps dogs living homeless on the roads. This is where I saw their pain,” Edgardo told Stuart.

These strays are God's forgotten creatures. But Edgardo felt a calling to travel around the country with one mission in mind -- helping as many animals as he can.

Edgardo has been walking the perimeter of Mexico for 6 years, picking up stray dogs. He feeds them, gets them medical care, trains them, and then finds them a loving forever home.

He's done this for about 500 dogs so far.

And while Edgardo has a soft spot for dogs, his compassion extends to all of God's creation.

"Life for me is to never mistreat an animal or another person. Not even a plant," he says.

And he wants his story to inspire everyone, especially the younger generation, to care for the gifts God has given us -- the land, the animals, and, of course, each other.

The story of Edgardo Perros, the Savior of the Dogs, impacted Stuart Williams so much, the photographer created a short documentary about this incredible man.
