Daughter Shares Wedding Dance With Her Father And 2 Days Later He's Gone

Meredith Parnell didn't have a groom. She didn't even have a boyfriend. But when she realized her dad wasn't going to be around much longer, she refused to miss out on a father-daughter wedding dance with her dying dad.

Losing a loved one is never easy. And it's especially hard to say goodbye when that special person is your own father.

In 2015, Meredith Parnell had to face a harsh reality. Her dad, Lynn, had been battling cancer for 12 long years. And it had become clear he wasn't going to be around much longer.

Meredith and her father were very close. It devastated Meredith knowing her dad wouldn't be by her side for so many special moments in her life.

And each time Lynn's cancer reared its ugly head, Meredith kept thinking about her wedding day. Though single, she knew, one day, she would get married and Lynn wouldn't be there for the traditional father-daughter dance.

So, Meredith decided to make sure she captured this moment before it was too late!

Meredith enlisted the help of a friend who owned a bridal shop. She borrowed a wedding dress and veil and planned to dress up and dance with her dad on Sunday. But then she felt the urge to have the dance sooner and bumped it up to Friday. It turns out it was a nudge from the Holy Spirit!

Lynn rested all day so he'd have enough strength. And when Meredith walked into her parent's living room, the tears just started flooding.

"I don't think he realized how special the moment would be until I walked through the door - you can see it on his face in the video," Meredith said.

With all the strength he could muster, Lynn stood up and danced with his daughter to John Mayer’s song ‘Daughters.’

The entire dance was captured on camera. Two days after this was filmed, Meredith’s father passed away.

"Had I waited till the Sunday, it would have never had happened, as he passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning," Meredith said.

Clearly, God had a hand in making sure Meredith got her wish.

And three years later, another one of Meredith's dreams came true. She tied the knot, celebrating one of the happiest days of her life. And at the reception, they played the emotional video as Meredith and her mom took turns dancing with Meredith's brothers, Jared and Jason.

There wasn't a dry eye in the place. In fact, it was so touching, some of the guests had to excuse themselves! 

"Having this moment to look back on is more incredible that I could ever put into words," Meredith said. "It's a true miracle that I was able to have this moment."

What a beautiful memory that will truly be cherished for a lifetime.
