Saddest Cat Gets The Happy Ending He Deserves

Meet BenBen the Cat. The pitiful stray, who earned the nickname the "saddest cat on the internet," came to an emergency vet clinic in Canada on death's door. Most notably, he suffered from a crushed spine and severely damaged ear. As a result, no one wanted to give the poor fellow a chance. He was all set to be euthanized when, just in the nick of time, a special angel came to BenBen's rescue. And it was just the happy ending this sad-face kitty deserved!

A Last Minute Rescue

Sandy Windover works at the vet clinic where BenBen first received treatment. Another animal hospital followed, where he went up for adoption. But BenBen's sullen look stayed with Sandy. Then, she found out no one wanted this sweet kitty on account of his medical needs.

"At that point he was deemed 'un-adoptable'. The vets said he'd never walk and he'd be on pain meds for the rest of his life," Sandy recalled.

Sandy had already told her boyfriend, Adam, all about BenBen. And with the news that the shelter had given up and planned to put this sweetie down, they knew just what they had to do.

“Adam and I found out and we just had to bring him home!” she said. “We decided to adopt him because we believe everyone deserves a chance! He was so broken and sick and didn’t look like he’d ever been loved!! His face melted our hearts and we knew we had to take a chance on him!”

Sandy and Adam were just in time, too. They brought BenBen home just one day before he was scheduled to be euthanized!

Second Chance For The Saddest Cat

No one knows exactly what happened to leave poor BenBen in such rough shape. His humans suspect it was an attack from a large animal that left the stray with a fractured spine and his "cauliflower" ear. His famously sad expression is due to an unexplained excess of skin on his face. As if his traumatic past wasn't enough to do the trick!

Thanks to Sandy and Adam, BenBen is getting all the medical attention he needs. But just as importantly, he's getting all the love he so deserves. And it's made all the difference!

"He can walk and run. Although with a very noticeable wobble. But for a cat that was never supposed to be able to walk after going through what he went through, he's doing amazing. He can even jump," Adam said.

The couple has documented BenBen's incredible recovery on social media, where the "saddest cat on the internet" and his very happy ending has become a sensation!

Now that BenBen is living "happily ever after," his kind-hearted humans are using his internet fame to try to do some good. They are actively fundraising on behalf of other strays in need of medical help. And we pray their efforts will provide another happy ending for an animal in need of a second chance!
