Community Rejoices Over Update From Man With Sign Standing On The Street Corner

Who knew that a man with a sign could create a ripple effect of joy and hope in his hometown? This inspiring short story is about a community rejoicing over an update from a man with a sign standing on the street corner.

A man named Kevin had hit rock bottom. With nowhere to turn, the man made up a sign and stood on a street corner to plead with strangers for help.

But it wasn’t just any kind of sign. His sign said he was ex-military, drug-free, and really needed a job.

Weeks passed by as Kevin would stand there, day in and day out praying his circumstances would change. All he needed was one Good Samaritan to be willing to take a chance.

But then something happened. Kevin disappeared and then a few days later, a new sign from the man appeared. It read: “thank you everyone who has helped. I start working Monday.”

By God’s amazing grace, Kevin had found a job with a landscaping company. One friend, Jesse Dixon who often brought Kevin meals, snacks, and cash said, “I’m really glad to hear that he’s found some work.” He added, “He’s just a nice guy. It seems like he’d fallen on hard times so we were just trying to help him through it.”

So when the “thank you” sign appeared where Kevin had once stood, the community began to buzz about it. Megan Bingham, who assists in fundraising efforts for the homeless, said she was “thrilled” to hear Kevin’s luck had changed because not only did he have a job, but he left a note to show his gratitude. “Here’s a man who was so grateful that he left a sign. It gives me goosebumps,” she commented.

May we all find gratitude and express it wide and far. No matter our circumstances, Kevin’s story reminds us to rejoice in the Lord and give thanks. Not only does it do good for our souls but it creates a ripple effect in the community we belong to and we all could use a little more rejoicing!
