North Texas Father Finds Comfort in Newborn Son After Wife Dies in Childbirth

Aaron Martin of Plano, Texas, has a new baby boy, Parker. But tragedy surrounded his birth. Natalie Martin, Parker’s mother and the loving wife of Aaron, died while giving birth to him. This left Aaron as a widower, and Parker without his mom.

Natalie was a 2nd grade teacher. Her pregnancy had been a healthy one, but as her due date approached, she started having sudden back pain and went to the hospital, according to an interview Aaron had with CBS Texas

She Went in to the Hospital For Just a Precautionary Check

It was just meant to be a precautionary check, but doctors ended up having to do a C-section. Natalie died just hours later because of internal bleeding.

"There was just some bleeding that they couldn't stop," Aaron shares. "I was just in shock… trying to wrap my mind around the situation."

"Everything about our faith and our personalities just meshed so well," he said. "We complemented each other." He says.

Aaron Feels a Wide Range of Emotions After Losing His Wife After Childbirth

Natalie was a well-loved teacher who was known for putting her students first.

As you can imagine, Aaron is feeling a wide range of emotions. Grief and sadness, with the loss of his beloved wife, but also joy and happiness, with the birth of his son, Parker.

"She gave everything for him, and he was first," he said. "In the few hours they got together, it was clear that nothing else mattered except him."

Aaron also sees so much of Natalie in Parker, which is a true blessing.

Natalie’s Friends and Colleagues Gathered to Remember Her

Natalie’s friends and colleagues gathered for a candlelight vigil in her honor. “Natalie was centered on maintaining her faith, tried and true. And always being a source of joy,” one of the speakers at her vigil shares.

Aaron’s advice to others who could be going through something like this is to lean on faith and each other. It is heartbreaking to think about this happening. A couple, so excited about adding to their family, and then to have it end in heartbreak. It is so hard to understand why these things can happen.
