Her Husband's Response To A Lewd Text From The Nanny Made My Day

Everyone, it seems, is talking about a recent blog post from actress and busy mom, Eva Amurri Martino (daughter of Susan Sarandon). In it, she shares a shocking story involving a recent run in between her husband and their daughter's nanny, starting with a lewd text. If you've ever glanced at the cover of a tabloid while waiting in line at the grocery store, then you know how common the whole "husband meets nanny" scandal is. Well, this story is nothing like the ones splashed all over the tabloids, and that's exactly why we love it!

Eva married her husband, sports broadcaster Kyle Martino, in 2011, and the couple welcomed their precious daughter, Marlowe, in 2014. With Kyle's travel for NBC Sports, and Eva's crazy schedule as she juggles running her own business with blogging and acting, the couple opted to go with a nanny as their means of child care.

So, you can imagine Eva's surprise when her husband gave her the heads up that he'd fired the nanny.

But Eva's surprise turned to outrage as Kyle explained why he'd fired the nanny. But what makes this story great is not the reason why, but rather how Kyle handled the entire situation. Eva shared the full story on her blog, Happily Eva After, but because of the explicit nature of parts of the story, we've recapped below.

Nanny's Lewd Text: Crossing A Line

It all happened while Eva was traveling for work. Kyle was out one morning with Marlowe, and a little while before he was supposed to meet the nanny at the house to head to work, he received a lewd text from her that is far too explicit to share here. The text detailed some of the lewd thoughts the nanny had for Kyle, and was written in a manner intended to suggest it had been mistakenly sent to him instead of to a friend. But as Kyle arrived home with his daughter, he couldn't help but notice the nanny -- who had a key and had already let herself in -- was peeking out of the house from Kyle and Eva's bedroom window. At that point, he realized the inappropriate text he'd received had been no accident.

The nanny's jaw-dropping audacity would be nothing new for the trashy tabloids found at the checkout. But, in a society that regularly diminishes the sanctity of marriage and practically glorifies extramarital sex, Kyle's response certainly is.

Fully aware of the precarious "he said/she said" situation that he was in, Kyle used an app on his cell phone to make sure his conversation with the nanny was recorded.

Kevin's recorded conversation with the nanny:

Kyle: When I came home earlier, why were you in our bedroom?

Nanny: I was looking for you.

Kyle: What?

Nanny: I was looking for you, I didn’t know if you were home

Kyle: (exasperated) Um. Ok.  Listen, this morning I got a really inappropriate text from you…

(pause)

Nanny: Oh yeah…Sorry

Kyle: Yeah. Ok.  Well… needless to say, it’s not the type of environment I want in the house with you taking care of our daughter.  So I’m going to have to ask you to go. I can pay you for today and then why don’t you go.

Nanny: Ok.

Kyle writes her a check while Marlowe asks for crackers

Kyle: Ok here you go. Thanks.

Nanny: I’m sorry I was just messing around with a friend I didn’t mean any harm.

Kyle: No need to apologize. Thanks, Bye.

(At this point she leaves and he turns the recording off)

What a commendable husband for choosing to uphold his vows. Not only did he do his wife and daughter proud, but he set a wonderful example for other men out there about the value of honesty and faithfulness in marriage.

Nanny's Lewd Text: Choosing Grace

The grace he showed to the nanny, in what could have easily become a hostile confrontation, was just as commendable. He handled the nanny's inappropriate behavior directly, but with respect.

We pray that Kyle's example will not only inspire other husbands to prize and value their marriage, but will also help the nanny, and all women struggling with self-worth, to see themselves as far more valuable than a sexual object.
