This man is dealing with terminal diagnosis which meant his words, “I do, in sickness and in health” were even more meaningful.
Sergio Soto, a young man learns he’s dealing with a terminal diagnosis, so he weds his high school sweetheart. If this young love story doesn’t whisper what true love is—then I don’t know what does!

His young bride Isabella Cristobal knows she only has a few weeks left with him but that didn’t stop them from professing their love in front of friends and family.
Young Couple's Love Story
This sweet couple met in high school. It was truly love at first sight and they have been inseparable ever since. They met at the tender age of 15 at a party and later that same year, Sergio began feeling tired and unwell. He later learned he had cancer.
Together they journeyed through high school and his cancer treatments. A situation like this is stressful and hard. It’s harder still to be a teenager and having to deal with being sick. Most of the time, relationships like this crumble under the burden of “in sickness and in health,” for with God’s support, strength, and endurance—it only made their tender, teenage love deeper.

"I didn't see a sick person, I saw a very positive and confident man that kept moving forward despite the pains, despite the cancer. He changed my perspective on life," Isabella said.
Not only did they reflect what it truly means to love someone, but their relationship also revealed what it means to be patient, kind, how love protects, trusts, hopes, and how God’s kind of love always perseveres.

When the couple learned that Sergio’s cancer had spread and that he was dealing with a terminal diagnosis, it was only a week before the wedding. Despite everyone’s reservations to move forward with the wedding, Sergio and Isabella tied the knot.

Couple Dealing With Terminal Diagnosis Weds
Sergio and Isabella wanted the world to see how love doesn’t stop for dealing with a terminal illness and they wanted to show the world how to truly love and honor your partner. "We really wanted to have a wedding ceremony, because that was the first time our family and friends came together to witness our love and life together," Isabella said.
The young couple wed on September 7. While the clock is ticking down to when Sergio will pass from Isabella’s arms into the arms of Jesus—she says it is all worth it. When their story went viral, one viewer commented, “It's hard to accept death. But I pray that there will be a miracle and he makes a turn for the better.”
Indeed, we all do. We pray to a mighty, miracle-working God. And even if God doesn’t heal Sergio on this side of heaven, we pray their love story will remind us all what a precious gift love is.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
