January 05, 2021
After a Candace Cameron Bure family photo drew some pretty harsh comments, the Christian celebrity responded. And she's challenging all of us to be kinder.
Outspoken Christian celebrity Candace Cameron Bure has never shied away from controversy. She's defended her faith while working in Hollywood, stood up to bullies, and even set the record straight about her marriage.

So, it comes as no surprise that when folks started picking on her family photo, Candace Cameron Bure wasted no time in calling out the haters.
Candace Cameron Bure Family Photo
Over the 2020 Christmas holiday, Candace Cameron Bure and her family decided to have some pictures taken. So Candace and her husband, Valeri Bure, gathered with their three children, Natasha (22), Lev (20), and Maksim (18).
Professional photographer Melissa Coulier, wife to Candace's former Full House co-star Dave Coulier, took the pictures. And Candace later shared one of the sophisticated, glamorous photos on social media, along with well-wishes for 2021.

Plenty of fans praised the beautiful photo. But plenty of others had nasty things to say. And the cruel response struck a chord with Candace.
Candace Cameron Bure Fires Back At Critics
According to Candace, folks were critiquing the poses and mocking the family's facial expressions and physical appearance. And she decided to call out the rude behavior.

"Do you think it’s funny to criticize someone’s children? To make jokes about them?" she asked on Facebook. "I wished blessings upon everyone as I shared it in the spirit of a happy new year, yet so many of you came back with jokes about our appearance and criticism of what you thought would have been a better photo. Shame on you."
Candace Cameron Bure also pointed out that the cruel comments on her family photo didn't just come from "haters". There were well-meaning people who thought it would be funny to share their commentary "with love."
"Umm... that’s not love," Candace points out. "That’s rude. Try kind. It looks good on everyone."
Ultimately, Candace challenged all of us to think twice before commenting.
"Be better than that," she said. "I’m praying for humanity. Manners and respect. If you don’t like something, just move on. There are people and real feelings behind every screen."
Speak Life
Indeed, "death and life are in the power of the tongue" (Proverbs 18:21). Yet, somewhere along the lines, social media created the notion we could (and should!) say anything we want with no regard for the impact our words may have on someone else.
But Matthew 12:37 reminds us that we will be judged by our words. It does not matter if those words are spoken in person or online. We choose whether to speak life or death.
So, just as Candace suggested, let us all try to show more kindness in all we do. Rather than tearing others down with our words, let's use them for encouragement.
