Cafeteria Lunch Lady Noticed Boy With Dwarfism Struggling At Lunch And Knew Just What To Do

A cafeteria lunch lady noticed a boy with dwarfism struggling at lunch and knew just want to do. 

Enedelia Mottram, who has been working as a cafeteria lunch lady for 18 years, went straight to her husband, a metal fabricator to create a mobile cart. Together, they both knew they could do something to help Julian not only get his lunch easier but also make it easier for him to get around the school.

Julian isn’t your average first grader. He likes Super Mario and Taekwondo and he attends a school that isn’t built for his size because has dwarfism. But that doesn’t seem to stop this kiddo from enjoying all that life has to offer even with the challenges of being a little person. And he did encounter some challenges on his first day of school. 

His mom had gone to the school to ensure Julian would have everything he needed but she forgot to check the lunchroom. Julian couldn’t reach the food nor did he have a way to carry it or get up on the benches to sit and eat his lunch. The cafeteria may as well have been made for giants. But Enedelia noticed and knew her husband could help. 

Cafeteria Lunch Lady Makes Special Cart

That night she told her husband James about Julian’s challenges. James then got to work designing a cart, complete with flames, a personalized license plate, and a built-in step stool so that Julian can whip it out when he needs to reach for something. 

Julian’s mom Heather was a ball of tears when she learned of the cart that was made for her son. It meant the world to her that someone would be so kind to her child.

"They took the time to get those license plates with his name, which is just like, they just really put a lot of heart into it. So when I saw it, the first thing I saw was actually a picture of James and his team who made the cart and I cried. It's just such a sweet thing," Heather said.

And now because of the lunch lady’s thoughtfulness, Heather wants the world to know how one person can change the whole world. "There's just wonderful people in this world that, you know, they have their eyes open. They're seeing needs that need to be met and they're meeting them. So I hope that other kids can get their needs met through this," she said.

What an incredible story of kindness, creativity, and love. We are so grateful God put Enedelia and James in the path of Julian’s life.
